Do you want to join a committed, activist-driven organization and take meaningful action for social justice?
For over 40 years, Médecins du Monde has been delivering healthcare to the most vulnerable, challenging barriers to access, and driving long-term change in health policies.
In France and across nearly 30 countries, our work is built around six core missions:
MdM in Syria
Since December 2024, about 1.8 million refugees and 2 million internally displaced people have returned to their areas of origin (UNHCR, 1 October 2026, indicative), and many others remain displaced. Many return to areas where roads, public services, and health facilities are damaged or only partially functional. Humanitarian needs remain high, while access, administrative procedures and security conditions can change quickly from one area to another.
Médecins du Monde (MdM) works in Syria to protect vulnerable people's access to essential health care, including returnees and displaced communities. Our programs are run from the coordination office in Damascus, with teams and partners in several governorates.
MdM is currently operating in Aleppo and Idlib governorates, supporting three health facilities. Since 2026, program activities have been extended to Rural Damascus and Daraa governorates, where MdM will support two health centers.
